2. What about my patient’s confidentiality?
All information provided to Amity is handled with the strictest confidentiality code of conduct.
3. What type of practice does Amity usually work with?
Our medical billing services are flexible enough to work with just about any practice of any size. Our streamlined delivery model enables us to
adapt to your needs. If you are single physician practice, or have several offices with a team of providers, we can customize a medical billing
solution to your needs.
4. How long does it take to get started?
We can begin medical billing services as soon as you are set up in our system. We'll need some specific practice information to get started such
as: practice name, address, UPIN, Tax ID, provider numbers, fee schedule, insurance policy information, etc. Once established, we can
usually start submitting claims within a couple of days.
5. Why do I not buy a software myself and do the work myself?
The problem in healthcare offices is not limited to purchase of software. Doctors can buy software and after an initial training for a few
thousand dollars, they may able to operate it too , but their problems won’t go away forever.
In addition to ongoing expenses for IT issues, upgrades, training and support, a burning issue in a healthcare office is human resources.
Turnover in medical offices is high especially with positions that deal with front office and billing functions. On average, attrition for staff in
billing positions are in every 3-6 months! The frequent changes in staffing create potential income gap between filing claims. When new staff
members are hired they’re under pressure to learn the software and collect on past claims, devouring much of your valuable time and cash flow
Billing staff are initially hired to strictly handle the billing function but soon they start handling all sorts of duties. They get pulled & pushed into
so many directions and responsibilities that they do not get to concentrate on their main job description. Additionally, their pay is historically
low and this is probably one of the major issues that cause high turnover. Healthcare providers mostly look at in-office billing staff as “billing
clerks” with “Fill-in-the-blanks” duties. Medical (or dental) billing truly needs more professional and dedicated people who know how to handle
the intricate details in order to reduce or eliminate rejections while maximizing reimbursements. To a degree, it is a “corporate culture” issue. A
similar comparison would be the way Banks look at tellers. While there are differences, the similarities lie in the fact that both are important
positions but not well paid generally.
Overall, doctors end up paying much more for in-house staff than to hire a professional reliable outside billing service. When calculating staff
pay, you have to take into consideration all the additional costs other than salary, such as taxes, benefits, vacation, etc.
Our goal as a professional medical billing service is to bring awareness to doctors that this area of their practice truly needs much-needed
attention and stability. Amity HealthSmart professional billing service is equipped with advanced tools and provide better cash flow solutions,
lower costs and bring stability to their practice. Additionally, their staff gets too busy to keep up with changing regulations. By using Amity
HealthSmart’s services they can bring so many benefits to the table.
Amity HealthSmart offers Doctors help in establishing their service. We provide you with the tools to offer numerous additional services to
doctors, such as Electronic Funds Transfer, Collection Services, Remote Backup Services, Well-Care Services, and Digital Scanning of Medical
Records. These services are often needed by healthcare providers, and clearly office staff cannot provide them since they require specialized
tools and knowledge.
6. Are the claims filed electronically?
All claims will be sent electronically whenever possible. If not, paper claims will be computer generated.
7. Is Amity HIPAA compliant?
Yes. Amity is completely HIPAA compliant and has developed a program to support OIG suggested best practices for medical billing services.
8. Why do I really need an EMR for my small, private practice? I am “self contained.”
There is no question that in the near future electronic medical records will become required by insurers, third party payers and the
government, regardless of the size of your practice. Following such events as Hurricane Katrina in 2006,and other such natural disasters it
became obvious that the EMR is the only way to be sure patients' medical information is available to health care providers, regardless of where
the care is required.
9. Will my claims really be paid faster?
Most definitely. Electronic claims are always processed before paper claims and because of electronic medical billing tracking methods in place,
the insurance companies can't say they never received your claims. Claims editing reduces rejections. Less than 1% error rate and notification
of rejected claims within 24 to 48 hrs. Turnaround time 14-30 days.
10. What information does your medical billing service need from us to process claims?
Depending on medical billing services rendered, but to process the claims, need copies of super bill for services performed, patient enrolment
form and insurance card front and back. For accounting of payments, you provide copies of EOB's to post the payments. Further acquired
information needed will be; insurance carriers that your medical practice accepts, "choice" enrolment form, EMC agreements, where applicable,
fee schedules.
11. How will you follow-up on claims?
A daily task using a tracking management system with precise aging reports. Dedicated and persistent follow-up on unpaid claims within 7
days. Pursued by phone contact & letters.
12. When is the Practice Management System available?
The system is available during most business hours.
13. How will Amity receive my information for daily claims generation?
Amity provides option to either fax super bills using toll free fax number or start using EMR software package and enter patient encounter
details which are in turn used by Amity to prepare and submit claims for you.
14. What do I need to provide Amity to make sure claims are submitted efficiently?

bills/patient encounter details daily and either update patients demographics into our system or forward copy of same. Amity understands that
your requirement is unique and so Account Manager will discuss current process and develop a suitable process for exchange of required
information to suit your requirement.
